Should I Read that eBook Review?

Sales Pitch Defense RoutineI received another email this morning asking me to read a review touting the benefits of an eBook I’m sure is loaded with true value. While going through my SPDR (Sales Pitch Defense Routine) I thought it might help some other “opportunity addicts” stop pushing the stuck on stupid button like I use to do.

Actually I haven’t fared too bad in the “sucker” column when it comes to purchasing online products. Yes I have purchased my share, but I have read absolute horror stories of online opportunity addicts going through their cash like it was water going over Niagara Falls.

This eBook could hold the key to eternal life itself. But as far as I’m concerned if it costs $77, then well, I’ll see ya in hell, cause I’m not forking over $77 bucks for ANYTHING, especially an eBook right now. If that’s what the online market will bare…fine; that’s not what my wallet will bare!

For me now it has more to do with wasting my valuable time and just as important…that days focus. There are so many voices on the Net selling the next “quick fix” to online money-making nirvana it can suck all your time and purposeful concentration right down the digital drain.

When I receive an email asking me to read an eBook review here is what I do.

Sales Pitch Defense Routine

I skip the eBook review and go directly to the eBook’s pitch page. When I get to the eBook’s beautifully presented sales copy I don’t stop for one spit-second to read one letter of one word aimed at closing me for a sale. Like a flash of light, I make the sign of the cross and shield my eyes from the foot-long blurred-out PayPal graphics proudly showing off earning reports by the eBook author. Then I head straight for Firefox’s right hand scroll bar, zoom down to the end of the web page, find the “BUY NOW” button and carefully click it to see the eBook price. If it’s over what I want to spend I “Nuke” the sucker to eBook oblivion and head back to what I was doing. I’ve got my SPDR down to a science now. My entire “Sales Pitch Defense Routine” probably takes me less than 60 seconds. Pretty good huh?

Someday I hope to create my own eBook sales pitches and do thorough reviews of $77 eBooks from other authors with the hopes of earning affiliate dollars from them. But an educated consumer is the best customer so don’t say I didn’t show you how to defend yourself.
